新影樂團（原名北京電影樂團），現名中國電影樂團，成立於一九四九年四月，該團主要是為電影局所屬各電影製片廠和各省、市、自治區的電影製片廠、電視台錄製影視音樂，亦為廣播、唱片、磁帶，錄製音樂或舉辦音樂會等，中國電影樂團所屬民族管弦樂隊初建時，僅有十餘人，當時稱國樂組，由京、津、滬等地的音樂名手和專家組成，如劉明源、陳永祿、鄭喜奎、王范地、夏仁根等，他們曾為《龍鬚溝》、《中國人民的勝利》等影片錄製音樂。何彬創作的板胡獨奏曲《大起板》膾炙人口，在群眾中頗有影響。
一九五六年，樂團從上海吸收了一批青年演奏員，擴建為完整的民族樂隊。四十年來，樂隊單獨或與交響樂合作錄製了電影《祝福》、《林家鋪子》，電視連續劇《紅樓夢》等大量的影視音樂。該隊演奏的民族器樂合奏曲《翻身的日子》、《喜洋洋》、《紫竹調》、《幸福年》、《馬蘭花開》等傳遍全國，深受群眾歡迎。
上世紀五十年代，該隊夏仁根、劉明源、王範地的琵琶、板胡獨奏先後在兩次世界青年聯歡節上榮獲民間器樂比賽金質獎章。主要演員有胡海泉（嗩呐）、范上娥（箏）、沈立良（板胡）、李小剛（揚琴）、孫貴生（笛）、孫奉中（二胡）、曹建國（笙）、潘娥青（琵琶）、郭向（管子）等。
Chinese Movie Orchestra The original name was Beijing Movie Orchestra, founded in 1949. The main role of this orchestra is to produce music for the movies, TV and broadcasting programmes and records of the whole country. Also it will hold concerts of their own. In the beginning, the number of members was less than twenty, Most of them were the famous performers from Beijing, Tientsin and Shanghai such as Liu Ming-yuan, Chen Yong-lu, Wang Fan-di etc. In 1956, it was expanded to a full Chinese orchestra. In the past decades, It has produced numerous great music and songs which are popular in the whole country such as “Day of Relief”, “Festive Joy”, Fortunate Year”, “Purple Bamboo Tune” etc. In the 1950s, its members Liu Ming-Yuan and Wang Fang-di had won gold medals in the World Youth Festival Competition.
