趙季平,作曲家,音樂教育家。西安音樂學院前院長,中國音樂家協會名譽主席,西安音樂學院、中央音樂學院校友。1945年7月20日,出生於河北省束鹿縣(今河北省辛集市),原籍甘肅省平涼人。15歲考入西安音樂學院作曲系,畢業後分配到陝西省戲曲研究院工作,潛心研究音樂。文革結束後,進入中央音樂學院就讀。1984年,為電影《黃土地》配樂;1987年,又為《紅高粱》配樂而知名。1985年起,任陝西省戲曲研究院副院長;1991年起,任陝西省歌舞劇院院長,曾兼任中國音樂家協會副主席、陝西省文聯副主席、陝西省音樂家協會副主席、陝西省電影音樂學會會長等職務;2004年,當選陝西省文聯主席;2008年至2015年任西安音樂學院院長;2009年12月,當選中國音樂家協會主席。多年來,創作出大量優秀音樂作品:《第一交響曲》、《第二交響曲——和平頌》;交響詩《霸王別姬》;交響音畫《太陽鳥》;交響組曲《喬家大院》;民族管弦樂《慶典序曲》、《古槐尋根》;大提琴協奏曲《莊周夢》、管子協奏曲《絲綢之路幻想組曲》、二胡協奏曲《心香》;《第二琵琶協奏曲》、《第一小提琴協奏曲》、舞劇《大漠孤煙直》、《花兒》;陝北秧歌劇《米脂婆姨綏德漢》;交響京劇《楊門女將》;室內樂《關山月》;歌曲《大江南》、《斷橋遺夢》、《好漢歌》、《遠情》《關雎》……。又先後為電影《黃土地》、《紅高粱》、《菊豆》、《大紅燈籠高高掛》、《霸王別姬》、《秋菊打官司》《梅蘭芳》、《孔子》;電視劇《水滸傳》、《大宅門》、《喬家大院》、新版《三國》等創作音樂。他在中國音樂創作領域獨樹一幟,被譽為中國樂壇最具中國風格、中華氣質和民族文化精神的作曲家。

ZHAO Ji-ping (July 20, 1945–)
ZHAO Ji-ping is a composer and music educator. He served as the former president of the Xi’an Conservatory of Music, honorary chairman of the Chinese Musicians’ Association, and is an alumnus of the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and the Central Conservatory of Music. He was born on July 20, 1945, in Shulu County, Hebei Province (now Xinji City, Hebei Province), with ancestral roots in Pingliang, Gansu Province. At the age of 15, he was admitted to the composition department of the Xi’an Conservatory of Music and after graduation, he was assigned to work at the Shaanxi Provincial Opera Research Institute, where he devoted himself to music research. After the end of the Cultural Revolution, he entered the Central Conservatory of Music for further studies. In 1984, he composed the music for the film “Yellow Earth,” and in 1987, he gained fame for his music in “Red Sorghum.” From 1985, he served as the vice president of the Shaanxi Provincial Opera Research Institute. From 1991, he served as the president of the Shaanxi Provincial Song and Dance Theater. He has also held positions such as vice chairman of the Chinese Musicians’ Association, vice chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice chairman of the Shaanxi Musicians’ Association, and president of the Shaanxi Film Music Society. In 2004, he was elected chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles. From 2008 to 2015, he served as the president of the Xi’an Conservatory of Music. In December 2009, he was elected chairman of the Chinese Musicians’ Association. Over the years, he has created a large number of outstanding musical works, including the First Symphony, Second Symphony – “Ode to Peace”, symphonic poem “Farewell My Concubine”, symphonic tone poem “Sunbird”, symphonic suite “Qiao Family Courtyard”, orchestral work “Celebration Overture”, “In Search of Ancient Roots” for traditional orchestra, cello concerto “Dream of Zhuang Zhou”, suona concerto “Fantasy Suite on the Silk Road”, erhu concerto “Fragrance of the Heart”, Second Pipa Concerto, First Violin Concerto, dance drama “Lone Smoke Rising in the Desert”, “Flowers”, Shaanbei Yangge Opera “Mi Zhi Po Yi Sui De Han”, symphonic Peking Opera “Female General of Yang Family”, chamber music “Moonlight on the Great Wall”, songs “Da Jiangnan”, “Broken Bridge Dream”, “Heroic Song”, “Distant Love”, “Guan Ju”, and more. He has also composed music for films such as “Yellow Earth”, “Red Sorghum”, “Ju Dou”, “Raise the Red Lantern”, “Farewell My Concubine”, “The Story of Qiu Ju”, “Farewell My Concubine”, “Confucius”, and TV dramas such as “Water Margin”, “The Grand Mansion Gate”, “Qiao Family Courtyard”, and the new version of “Three Kingdoms”. He has a unique style in the field of Chinese music composition and is hailed as the composer with the most Chinese style, Chinese temperament, and national cultural spirit in the Chinese music industry.
