新影乐团（原名北京电影乐团），现名中国电影乐团，成立于一九四九年四月，该团主要是为电影局所属各电影制片厂和各省、市、自治区的电影制片厂、电视台录制影视音乐，亦为广播、唱片、磁带，录制音乐或举办音乐会等，中国电影乐团所属民族管弦乐队初建时，仅有十馀人，当时称国乐组，由京、津、沪等地的音乐名手和专家组成，如刘明源、陈永禄、郑喜奎、王范地、夏仁根等，他们曾为《龙鬚沟》、《中国人民的胜利》等影片录制音乐。何彬创作的板胡独奏曲《大起板》脍炙人口，在群众中颇有影响。
一九五六年，乐团从上海吸收了一批青年演奏员，扩建为完整的民族乐队。四十年来，乐队单独或与交响乐合作录制了电影《祝福》、《林家铺子》，电视连续剧《红楼梦》等大量的影视音乐。该队演奏的民族器乐合奏曲《翻身的日子》、《喜洋洋》、《紫竹调》、《幸福年》、《马兰花开》等传遍全国，深受群众欢迎。
上世纪五十年代，该队夏仁根、刘明源、王范地的琵琶、板胡独奏先后在两次世界青年联欢节上荣获民间器乐比赛金质奖章。主要演员有胡海泉（唢呐）、范上娥（筝）、沉立良（板胡）、李小刚（扬琴）、孙贵生（笛）、孙奉中（二胡）、曹建国（笙）、潘娥青（琵琶）、郭向（管子）等。
Chinese Movie Orchestra The original name was Beijing Movie Orchestra, founded in 1949. The main role of this orchestra is to produce music for the movies, TV and broadcasting programmes and records of the whole country. Also it will hold concerts of their own. In the beginning, the number of members was less than twenty, Most of them were the famous performers from Beijing, Tientsin and Shanghai such as Liu Ming-yuan, Chen Yong-lu, Wang Fan-di etc. In 1956, it was expanded to a full Chinese orchestra. In the past decades, It has produced numerous great music and songs which are popular in the whole country such as “Day of Relief”, “Festive Joy”, Fortunate Year”, “Purple Bamboo Tune” etc. In the 1950s, its members Liu Ming-Yuan and Wang Fang-di had won gold medals in the World Youth Festival Competition.
