闵惠芬,一九四五年十二月二十三日出生于江苏省宜兴县一个水乡小村,二零一四年五月十二日病逝于上海。其父亲为民族乐器演奏家、教育家闵季骞,自幼即随父习二胡,八岁时,在丹阳艺术师范学校附小首次登台,一九五六年,迁居南京,入鼓楼区「少年之家」红领巾艺术团,于此参加课余音乐活动,除二胡独奏外,亦任乐队指挥,同时还学钢琴。一九五八年,考入上海音乐学院附中民族音乐科,师从王乙习二胡。其间,在一九六三年第四届「上海之春」的全国首届二胡比赛中,荣获第一名。一九六四年,跳级升读上海音乐学院民族音乐系本科,师从陆修棠,一九六九年毕业后,在上海乐团、中国艺术团、上海艺术团任二胡独奏演员,尝任中国音乐家协会副主席。一九八一年,闵氏身患重症,但仍于一九八二年的「上海之春」音乐会上,首次演奏作曲家刘文金的作品二胡协奏曲《长城随想》,获得成功。

MIN Hui-fen

MIN Hui-fen was born on December 23, 1945 in Yixing, Jiangsu province and passed away of illness on May 12, 2014 in Shanghai. Her father MIN Ji-qian was a renowned traditional music instrumentalist and educationalist. She learned the erhu from her father when she was young. In 1956, their family moved to Nanjing and she joined the Art Troupe of the Children’s Club at drum tower area. She was then the erhu soloist and the conductor of the ensemble. In 1958, she was admitted to the affiliated secondary school of the Shanghai Conservatory learning the erhu under WANG Yi. In 1963, she was selected to participate in the 4th Shanghai Spring Festival’s national erhu competition. She and JIANG Xun-feng both won the first prize. In 1964, she was admitted to step up to the undergraduate course learning the erhu under LU Xiu-tang. After she graduated from the conservatory in 1969, she was appointed to the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, the China Arts Group and the Shanghai Arts Group respectively as the erhu soloist. She is then the vice-president of the China Musicians’ Association. In 1981, she has got sickness of cancer, but she is still brave to premiere the erhu concerto The Great Wall Capriccio by LIU Wen-jin in 1982’s Shanghai Spring Festival.
