盧家炳先生,字秀石,號醉琴樓主人,齋名春雨草堂,原籍廣東省中山縣,一八九六年二月二十二日出生於家鄉,一九八O年逝世於香港。盧先生二十二歲畢業於嶺南大學,其後曾任教中山大學,遷居香港後開辦盧氏英文書院;先生自十六歲開始學琴,一九三O年代於廣州曾從師容心言,一九五二年在香港退休後,自行打譜、研究與創作,其琴風韻味自成一家。曾與香港的國樂家組織“香港古典音樂社”,並任社長之職。

LO Ka-ping was born on February 22, 1896 in his ancestral home Zhongshan, Guangdong Province and passed away in 1980 at the age of 84. His first name was Sau-shek and his other name was the Master of the Drunken Qin-house. When he was twenty two, he graduated from the Ling Nam University. He was on the teaching staff of the Sun Yat Sen University. After settling in Hong Kong, he became the Principal of his own school in 1964, Lo’s English Academy. He began to learn the qin when he was sixteen. In 1930’s, he studied the qin under RONG Xin-yan in Guangzhou. Since his retirement in 1952, he took research in qin music and transcription. Besides, he was also fond of Chinese traditional music and was the chairman of the Hong Kong Traditional Music Club.
