MIN Hui-fen<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n MIN Hui-fen was born on December 23, 1945 in Yixing, Jiangsu province and passed away of illness on May 12, 2014 in Shanghai. Her father MIN Ji-qian was a renowned traditional music instrumentalist and educationalist. She learned the erhu<\/em> from her father when she was young. In 1956, their family moved to Nanjing and she joined the Art Troupe of the Children\u2019s Club at drum tower area. She was then the erhu<\/em> soloist and the conductor of the ensemble. In 1958, she was admitted to the affiliated secondary school of the Shanghai Conservatory learning the erhu<\/em> under WANG Yi. In 1963, she was selected to participate in the 4th<\/sup> Shanghai Spring Festival\u2019s national erhu<\/em> competition. She and JIANG Xun-feng both won the first prize. In 1964, she was admitted to step up to the undergraduate course learning the erhu<\/em> under LU Xiu-tang. After she graduated from the conservatory in 1969, she was appointed to the Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestra, the China Arts Group and the Shanghai Arts Group respectively as the erhu<\/em> soloist. She is then the vice-president of the China Musicians\u2019 Association.
