台北市立國樂團,成立於1979 年,是台灣第一個專業國樂團,隸屬於台北市政府文化局,並於2001年進駐台北市中山堂。歷任團長為陳暾初、陳澄雄、王正平、鍾耀光、鄭立彬、陳鄭港。在歷任團長及音樂總監王正平、邵恩、首席指揮瞿春泉與現任首席指揮張宇安的帶領下,厚植團員專業演奏素養,讓台北市立國樂團躋身國際知名樂團,以開創性的跨界節目來拓展「國樂」的定義,樹立台北市立國樂團獨特的樂團風格與藝術走向。樂團的標語「讓您聽見世界」,明白點示出台北市立國樂團不單只有演奏傳統國樂,更與國際名家合作,多方嘗試跨界演出,發展出台灣國樂的新模式,為國樂永續發展創造嶄新視野,也讓樂團成為全球委約及演出台灣作曲家作品最多的樂團,以「台灣品牌立足國際」。曾多次出訪過日本、美國、加拿大、菲律賓、馬來西亞、澳洲、新加坡、英國、德國、法國、奧地利、瑞士、荷蘭、比利時、捷克、中國、香港、澳門等超過20多個國家和地區,足跡遍及世界各個重要音樂廳。每年樂季平均辦理超過50場定期音樂會、推廣教育性音樂會與其他型態的演出,並於每年4月至6月舉辦「台北市傳統藝術季」。台北市立國樂團除本身業務外,還附設有「北市國附設青年國樂團」、「北市國附設青少年國樂團」、「北市國附設少年國樂團」、「北市國附設教師國樂團」、「北市國附設市民國樂團」、「北市國附設合唱團」、「北市國附設學院國樂團」等,七個附設音樂團體,作為發揚傳統文化,推廣國樂教育,輔導國內國樂社團學生提升演奏技術水準,並提供青少年暑假正當的課外活動。

The Taipei Chinese Orchestra, established in 1979, is the first professional Chinese orchestra in Taiwan. It is affiliated with the Department of Cultural Affairs of the Taipei City Government and has been based at the Zhongshan Hall since 2001. Former leaders of the orchestra include CHEN Tun-chu, CHEN Cheng-xiong, WANG Zheng-ping, ZHONG Yao-guang, ZHENG Li-bin, and CHEN Cheng-gang. Under the guidance of former Music Directors and Chief Conductors WANG Zheng-ping, SHAO En, and current Chief Conductor ZHANG Yu-an, the orchestra has cultivated the professional performance skills of its members, allowing the Taipei Chinese Orchestra to become internationally renowned.

The orchestra has expanded the definition of “Chinese music” through innovative cross-genre programs, establishing a unique musical style and artistic direction. With the slogan “Let You Hear the World”, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra emphasizes that it not only performs traditional Chinese music but also collaborates with international artists and explores cross-genre performances. It has developed a new model for Taiwanese Chinese music, creating a fresh perspective for the sustainable development of Chinese music. The orchestra has become the most commissioned and performed orchestra for Taiwanese composers, promoting “Taiwanese brands” on the international stage.

The Taipei Chinese Orchestra has toured Japan, the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the Czech Republic, China, Hong Kong, Macao, and more than 20 other countries and regions. They have performed in important music halls worldwide. Each year, the orchestra organizes over 50 regular concerts, educational concerts, and other types of performances. Additionally, they hold the “Taipei Traditional Arts Festival” from April to June each year. Apart from its main activities, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra also includes seven affiliated music groups: the “Youth Chinese Orchestra”, “Junior Youth Chinese Orchestra”, “Children’s Chinese Orchestra”, “Teachers’ Chinese Orchestra”, “Citizens’ Chinese Orchestra”, “Choir”, and “Academy Chinese Orchestra”. These groups contribute to promoting traditional culture, fostering Chinese music education, coaching domestic Chinese music clubs, helping students improve their performance skills, and providing meaningful extracurricular activities for youth during the summer.
