上海飛雲民族樂團，是由著名指揮家夏飛雲教授於2012年初籌建，是我國當前唯一一支由指揮家、演奏家、教育家自發組建而成的大型民族樂團。樂團由夏飛雲教授任團長、藝術總監並親自執棒，同時匯集了翁鎮發、徐超銘、左冀偉等一批具有國內外影晌力的演奏家，以及畢業於上海音樂學院、復旦大學、上海財經大學等高校的優秀演奏者。
樂團自成立起，先後與青年演奏家李志卿、陸軼文、周紀來等進行了合作演出；2013年元旦期間在上海成功舉辦了專場新年音樂會；2013年末．上海飛雲民族樂團與中央民族樂團在北京國家大劇院聯袂舉辦了專場音樂會並獲巨大成功；2014年8月在上海音樂廳星期廣播音樂會上進行了專場演出，經典947等媒體直播了音樂會實況。樂團推出的《飛天》、《夜深沉》、《月兒高》、《絲綢之路》等經典民樂作品，已成為廣受好評的保留曲目。
近年來，在夏飛雲教授的悉心指導下，樂團已打造成一支編制齊全、業務極硬、充滿活力的樂團，得到了業內外專家、愛好者的強烈關注。中國民族管弦樂學會兩任會長朴東生、劉錫津均對飛雲民族樂團褒賞有加，中央民族樂團團長席強、中國民族管弦樂學會常務副會長王書偉、秘書長劉峪升等更親臨音樂會現場，贊嘆「飛雲民族樂團是個訓練有素，頗具專業水準的樂團」。
如今，這支年輕的樂團依然堅守著最初的目標：致力於傳承、傳播中國近現代民族音樂經典作品；致力於扶持、提攜年輕的音樂表演人才；積極投身於慈善、教育等公益活動，促進民族音樂的發展與普及，同時力爭成為上海，乃至全國及世界一流的民族樂團。
Shanghai Fei-yun Chinese Orchestra was established by renowned conductor – Professor XIA Fei-yun at the beginning of 2012, currently it is the only large-scale orchestra that was spontaneously established by conductors, performers and educators. The head as well as the art director of the orchestra is Professor XIA Fei-yun, at the same time, a batch of influential performers at home and abroad such as WENG Zhan-fa, XU Chao-ming and ZUO Yi-wei are included in this orchestra. In addition, a lot of excellent performers that graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Fudan University as well as Shanghai University of Finance & Economics joined in the orchestra as well.
After the orchestra was established, it had the opportunity to work with young performers such as LI Zhi-qing, LU Yi-wen and ZHOU Ji-lai. At the beginning of 2013, the orchestra successfully launched New Year concert in Shanghai. At the end of 2013, Shanghai Feiyun Chinese Orchestra worked with the China National Traditional Orchestra to launch a concert in Beijing National Grand Theater, the concert was a huge success. In August, 2014, the orchestra had The Weekly Radio Broadcast Concert in Shanghai Concert Hall, and the program called Classic 947 and some other media made the concert live. Moreover, several classic works published by the orchestra such as “Apsaras”, “Profound Night t”, “The Moon is High”, “The Silk Road” were repertoires that were widely welcomed by the audience.
In recent years, under the guidance of Professor XIA Fei-yun, the orchestra has become a fully fledged, professional and energetic band, and wins the intense attention from the experts as well as the enthusiasts. Mr. PIAO Dong-sheng and Mr. LIU Xi-jin, who were the chairmen of Chinese Traditional Orchestra Society spoke highly of Feiyun Chinese Orchestra, the head of National Traditional Orchestra of China —Mr. XI Qiang, vice chairman of Chinese Traditional Orchestra Society Mr. WANG Shu-wei, and secretary — Mr. LIU Yu-sheng came to the spot to watch the concert and all praised Feiyun Chinese Orchestra as a well-trained and professional orchestra.
Nowadays, this young Chinese philharmonic orchestra still keeps its initial goal in mind: wholeheartedly devoted to inherit and disseminate Chinese modern folk music; wholeheartedly devoted to support and guide the young but talented performers; actively indulge into charity and welfare activities to promote the development of folk music; at the same time, make an all-out effort to make Feiyun Chinese Orchestra as the first-class traditional orchestra in Shanghai, or even nationwide, or even worldwide.
